Approval of "For the Public Good"

For the Public Good
We are pleased to inform you that this morning the Board of Governors unanimously approved “For the Public Good,” (Au service de l’intérêt public) the University of Alberta’s new institutional strategic plan. This follows on the unanimous recommendation of the plan from General Faculties Council on May 30.

We would like to thank all of the members of our community—students, staff, faculty, alumni, volunteers, and others—who participated in the process of drafting and refining the plan. Special thanks to the members of the Institutional Strategic Planning Advisory Committee. Your guidance, advice, and hard work have been instrumental throughout the last several months.

Because of the engagement of so many in the institutional strategic planning process, “For the Public Good” reflects the ideas, insights, values, and aspirations of our community as a whole.  Over the summer months, as we prepare for a formal launch of the plan in September, we will begin to identify immediate priorities, initiate the development of a meaningful set of measures, and develop a reporting process that will ensure we continue to be accountable to the goals we have set together.

We look forward to working with all of you as we move into challenging and exciting work of implementation.

Thank you,

David Turpin, President and Vice-Chancellor
Steven Dew, Provost and Vice-President (Academic)
