Safety Fest 2016

Safety Fest 2016 @ UAlberta

What do you get when you mix rappelling firefighters with popcorn, an aggressive German Sheppard, and a bouncy castle?

Answer: Safety Fests, past and present!

Held daily from September 19-24, Safety Fest is an annual showcase of the U of A safety groups that promote safety (in a fun way!) across our campuses. Each day, we stake our beach umbrellas in a new location and hand out lots of safety "goodies" to passersby. This year, we'll be at Michener Park on Sept 24, along with the Station 13 fire department and the city's fire prevention unit. We'll also be demo'ing our fire extinguisher simulator & AED, and entering the winning float into the Green & Gold Day parade (just kidding - or am I?)

It's an eclectic line up of groups, each highlighting a different aspect of safety. So come and meet some of our university safety providers:

• Environment, Health & Safety
• Engineering Safety & Risk Management Program
• Faculty of Extension, Occupational Health & Safety Program
• Field Research Office (FRO)
• Healthy Campus Unit
• Injury Prevention Centre
• Safewalk
• Protective Services (UAPS)
