The City of Edmonton lit the High Level bridge on March 28 to celebrate Pharmacist Awareness Month. Faculty of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences students held information clinics, lunch and learns and other activities to educate people on the contributions pharmacists make to health-care delivery.

Arts student, Ember Large takes third place on the podium following her the sprints at the 2017 Canadian Colleges and University Nordic Championships. The U of A women's team placed third overall (comprised of Ember Large (Arts), Freya Hik (Eng), Kat Stone (Med)). The men placed 4th, comprised of Connor Spear (Eng) and Abram Meagher (Arts).

The School of Dentistry celebrated World Oral Health Day on March 20 by taking their Centennial Cheer Cart around the School's administrative office, research labs and the clinic offering coffee and tea.

Self high-fives are not judged here! 

On March 23rd, the Faculty of Education hosted Engage 2017, celebrating our Faculty's teaching and research excellence with an award ceremony and a poster presentation research fair. One poster, Elaine Simmt's, focused on the research in math education she does in Tanzania with her colleagues. One such colleague was there-- Dr. Andrew Binde (University of Dodoma, Tanzania), seen here chatting with President David Turpin.

The university's varsity teams were on a winning streak this month, with the Bears and Pandas taking home Western Championships in curling, tennis, hockey, and basketball.

The winning streak continued with the Panda's Volleyball Team taking home the CanadaWest title.

A National Championship was in the stars for the Pandas Hockey team, who had a well earned celebration after the final score was settled.

Michael Overduin, Executive Director of the National High Field Nuclear Magnetic Resonance Centre (NANUC), with his team and the Sample Jet at the University of Alberta. The Sample Jet will allow scientists to focus on the molecular causes of cancer, heart and neurodegenerative or infectious diseases, for which new treatments are critically needed.

The 7th annual, interprofessional health care simulation experience, Save Stan took place on Saturday, March 11, 2017, at the University of Alberta's Edmonton Clinic Health Academy (pictured) and MacEwan University's Robbins Health Learning Centre. 

The sun was warmly glowing on the top of the sculpture and the bottom was dusted in fresh, cold snow. Symbolic of both Alberta and the University - the warmth and the cold together. We keep going no matter what!

  1. Beautiful pictures. It would be nice if the Bears and Pandas wrestling teams could be highlighted. They did very well at CanWest and the National Championships. I rarely see their accomplishments celebrated.
