Calls For... 2017 WISEST Summer Research Program Supervisors

Categories:
If you're a University of Alberta researcher, graduate student, or lab assistant, consider becoming a WISEST Summer Research Program Supervisor from July 5 to August 16, 2017! Share your passion for research with a Grade 11 student while giving them the opportunity to contribute to a research project.

During the Summer Research Program, the Grade 11 students work for six continuous weeks as research assistants, supervised by a principal investigator or a research team member, on a research project in the lab or in the field. Young women participate in research within the science, engineering, or technology fields and the young men experience fields such as nursing, human ecology or nutrition.

WISEST conducts extensive fundraising efforts to pay the students and, as a Supervisor, you would provide the students with a positive and supportive learning environment in which they can gain a practical insight into scientific research and build their enthusiasm for diverse fields of study. Meaningful exposure at this particular stage of high-school students’ education can have a critical, positive impact for upcoming academic choices and their long-term career goals.

Please sign up by completing the online Supervisor Proposal by April 7, 2017.
