UAlberta Congrats

This week, the University of Alberta is celebrating a first-place finish for a student geoscience team, a ‘Leaders in Diversity’ award, and a silver-medallist powerlifter! So, congrats to the following:

• Sean Bettac, Graduate Student, Department of Physics, Faculty of Science — part of a team that won first place in the Canadian Regional Imperial Barrel Award competition, and qualified for the international competition in Houston, Texas this week

• Calla Knudson, Graduate Student, Department of Earth and Atmospheric Sciences, Faculty of Science — part of a team that won first place in the Canadian Regional Imperial Barrel Award competition, and qualified for the international competition in Houston, Texas this week

• Jared Kugler, Graduate Student, Department of Earth and Atmospheric Sciences, Faculty of Science — part of a team that won first place in the Canadian Regional Imperial Barrel Award competition, and qualified for the international competition in Houston, Texas this week

• Paul Paton, Dean, Faculty of Law — received a ‘Leaders in Diversity Award’ from the Federation of Asian Canadian Lawyers (Western Chapter) at the organization’s Diversity in the City gala

• Matthew Sommers, Graduate Student, Department of Earth and Atmospheric Sciences, Faculty of Science — part of a team that won first place in the Canadian Regional Imperial Barrel Award competition, and qualified for the international competition in Houston, Texas this week

• Kim Wagner, Undergraduate Student, Department of Physics, Faculty of Science — part of a team that won first place in the Canadian Regional Imperial Barrel Award competition, and qualified for the international competition in Houston, Texas this week

• Gaïa Willis, Student Mobility and Communications Coordinator, University of Alberta International — won a silver medal at the Canadian Powerlifting Union Nationals
