The University of Alberta banner is flying at half-mast in remembrance of Jim Corrigan, Curator of the University of Alberta Art Collection.
Dear Friends and Colleagues,
It is with great sadness that I am writing to you to let you know that Jim Corrigan, our long time friend and Curator of the University of Alberta Art Collection, slipped away Sunday evening March 19 at the U of A Hospital. Jim's wife Nancy and sons Christopher (Coreen) and Jeremy (Erin) will be planning a celebration of life on May 6th at the McKernan Community League Hall.
For now, we are all taking this time to pause and remember Jim's life and his 35 year career with the University. He was a brilliant artist and a very knowledgeable curator. He rode his bike to work everyday - even up to a few weeks ago, he loved food and strong coffee. He dearly loved life, his wife and his family and his constant side-kick, Cito the dog. He loved the University of Alberta Museums and felt he had the best job in the world.
His deep reverence for nature and art will continue to live on through his family, his art and the thousands of works of art that he recommended and helped to acquire for the University Art Collection. We will always remember his kindness, his stoic strength and most of all his deep and sincere belly laugh!
Thanks Jim for everything,
