Community Congrats! April 12, 2017

UAlberta Congrats
This week, the University of Alberta is celebrating the Images of Research winning entries, athletics and faculty award recipients, and more! So, congrats to the following:

• Dylan Brenneis, Master’s Student, Department of Mechanical Engineering, Faculty of Engineering – received first prize in a two-way tie in the Images of Research Competition for his entry, Self Portrait 2045 

• Noemi de Bruijn, Master’s Student, Department of Art and Design, Faculty of Arts – received third prize in the Images of Research Competition for her entry, Wonder-trail in Blue and Yellow 

• Camille Burger, PhD Student, Department of Drama, Faculty of Arts – received an honorable mention in the Images of Research Competition for her entry, Body as a Home 

• Andrea Dacko, Student, Faculty of Agricultural, Life & Environmental Sciences – part of a student team that won first place in the provincial division of the Mission ImPULSEible competition 

• Jeffery Duong, Student, Faculty of Agricultural, Life & Environmental Sciences – part of a student team that won first place in the provincial division of the Mission ImPULSEible competition 

• Philip Elson, Student, Faculty of Agricultural, Life & Environmental Sciences – part of a student team that won first place in the provincial division of the Mission ImPULSEible competition 

• Jessica Hou, Student, Department of Marketing, Business Economics, and Law, Alberta School of Business – won the Advertising Club of Edmonton ’s Student Workshop case competition, and was named a Top 10 finalist at the 2017 Canada’s Next Top Ad Exec competition 

• Trevor Poitras, Master’s Student, Department of Bichemistry, Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry – received the People’s Choice award in the Images of Research Competition for his entry, Outgrowth 

• Lindsey Post, Pandas Hockey – received the Bakewell Trophy as the U of A’s 2016-17 Female Athlete of the Year 

• Niko Saler, Golden Bears Soccer – received the Wilson Challenge Trophy as the U of A’s 2016-2017 Male Athlete of the Year 

• Ashley Sims, PhD Student, Department of History and Classics, Faculty of Arts – received an honorable mention in the Images of Research Competition for her entry, Divers cullort ribbans’: material evidence from the archives 

• Aleksandra Tymczak, Student, Faculty of Agricultural, Life & Environmental Sciences – part of a student team that won first place in the provincial division of the Mission ImPULSEible competition 

• Camelia Vokey, Master’s Student, Department of Occupational Therapy, Faculty of Rehabilitation Medicine – received first prize in a two-way tie in the Images of Research Competition for her entry, I Am Not Alone 

Finally, congratulations to all of the award recipients from Augustana Campus’s 2017 Community Awards Banquet, the Rehabilitation Medicine Student Association’s Winter Gala, and the Green and Gold Athletic Awards Banquet!
