UAlberta Congrats

This week, the University of Alberta is celebrating a lifetime achievement award, a Humboldt Fellowship, 3MT finalists, and more! So, congrats to the following:

• Thian Gan, Professor, Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, Faculty of Engineering — received a 2017 ASET Technical Excellence Award from the Association of Science and Engineering Technology Professionals of Alberta

• Justin Goodman, Student, Faculty of Law — placed first in the U of A’s Dean’s Cup moot

• Donald McFarlane, Volunteer — named University of Alberta Museums’ Volunteer of the Year for his work with the Dino Lab

• Laura Perram, Student, Faculty of Law — placed first in the U of A’s Dean’s Cup moot

• Joanne Profetto-McGrath, Professor and Vice Dean, Faculty of Nursing — received the CARNA Lifetime Achievement Award

• Felix Sperling, Professor, Department of Biological Sciences, Faculty of Science — named Curator of the Year, and inducted into the University of Alberta Museums Hall of Fame

• Thomas Thundat, Professor and Canada Excellence Research Chair, Department of Chemical and Materials Engineering, Faculty of Engineering — inducted into the American Institute for Medical and Biological Engineering College of Fellows

• Hayley Wan, Organic Chemistry Lab Director, Department of Chemistry, Faculty of Science — named the Faculty of Science’s Instructor of the Month

• Lorne Zelyck, Assistant Professor, St. Joseph’s College — awarded a prestigious Humboldt Research Fellowship

• Congratulations to all of the 2017 UAlberta 3MT Finalists, and good luck in the finals on April 13!

Finally, the U of A was named among the world’s top 10 in five subjects in the latest CWUR rankings: paleontology, forestry, petroleum engineering, geology and transplantation. Congratulations!
