In Memoriam: Maridel Ritchie

The University of Alberta banner is flying at half-mast in remembrance of Professor Maridel Ritchie, from the Faculty of Nursing.

Maridel Dorothea Ritchie (nee Blair), 60, passed away suddenly and tragically on April 18, 2017 in Edmonton, AB. Maridel was born in Red Deer, AB on January 29, 1957 and was raised on a farm outside Penhold. Maridel moved to Edmonton to complete her BSc degree in Nursing from the University of Alberta and had resided there ever since.

Maridel is survived by her husband, Brian, children, Cameron, Kaela, and Sean, sister, Lois (Keith) Kyle, brothers, Bob (Yvonne), Merv (Donna), and Warren (Gloria), and adopted cousin, Jim (Jan) Hallman. Maridel was predeceased by her father, Charlie, mother, Evelyn, adopted cousin, Bruce (Jo-Anne) Hallman, and sister-in-law, Marilyn Roesti.

Memorial services will be performed at Terwillegar Community Church (1751 Towne Centre Blvd. NW, Edmonton, AB) on Tuesday, April 25, 2017 at 11:00AM.

Memorial donations in memory of Maridel may be made to University Hospital Foundation.
