Have you met Kirstyn, Student Recruiter with the Alberta School of Business? Spend the next two minutes getting to know her a little better.

Where is your favorite place on campus?

The Old Arts Building. I really like the old buildings on campus, and that one is definitely my favourite. The whole outside of the building is beautiful, and it’s one of the most peaceful areas on campus.

Tablet or paper?

Paper. I’m a real note-taker. I was an English major, and I used to write all of my essays by hand.

Name one thing you’ve brought to work from home.

Pictures of my travels. It’s a nice reminder of past trips and adventures.

What is the one thing you can’t live without?

My running shoes. I have a passion for running — both to stay active, and as a remedy for stress. It keeps me focused and grounded. Without my running shoes, I go a little crazy.

If you won airfare to anywhere in the world, where would you go?

This changes weekly, I think — I have a little bit of wanderlust. I’d probably go to Italy. I’ve heard only good things, and I really like wine, cheese, pasta… so the food seems really good, as well as the history.

You can invite anyone — alive or dead, real or fictional — to dinner. Who would it be?

Ellen Degeneres. She’s hilarious, but also a humanitarian, so I think it would be a fascinating dinner.

If you could switch jobs with someone else on campus for a week, what would you do?

I’d like to do something outside, so probably landscaping or gardening. I’m always envious of them being outside. It’d be fun to do for a week in the summer… but not in the winter.

What does “uplifting the whole people” mean to you?

I deal a lot with prospective students and current students, so it means fostering a supportive and inclusive environment for education. Uplifting the whole people can mean a lot of things, but for me it’s about that environment — providing an area for personal growth, and the opportunity to give back to the community.

If you could solve any problem in the world, what would it be?

Poverty. It affects every area in the world, and solving poverty would solve a lot of related problems.

What 3 words best describe your U of A experience?

Rewarding. Engaging. Positive.
