President Turpin's Statement on Racist Posters

Earlier today, disturbing racist posters were discovered on our campus. As soon as they were brought to our attention, the posters were removed. Any new posters found will also be removed immediately. Unfortunately, similar posters have also been found on other Canadian university campuses. We are working with University of Alberta Protective Services to find the parties responsible. The University of Alberta is a space that is open to all people and we take pride in the strength of our diverse community.

Please see a video statement here.

Statement related to IHI and cancelled PIM Rounds workshop

The following is intended to clarify both the workshop and the institute.

Corrections and Clarifications - Polar Bear

The University of Alberta is aware of the image of a polar bear circulating the internet, and the associated petition and social media campaign.  We too are concerned for the welfare of this bear and are working collaboratively with a number of agencies so that we can remove the collar when it is possible.  For more information and facts about this situation please visit the online Q & A page.
