In Memoriam: Their Name Liveth Forever More

In memory of those U of A community members who served during the first and second world wars, we took a walk through the halls of Convocation Hall, where their names are displayed. The names presented here and on the walls of Convocation Hall represent those who were active members of the U of A during their service. We hope that all those university community members who may have joined the school after 1919 and 1945 respectively, and all of those who served in later conflicts will also be remembered during Wednesday's remembrance ceremonies across the nation.

University community mourns loss of great friend and advocate

John and Bunny Ferguson

“When I fall in love with a cause, look out, because I give it all I’ve got.”

When Bernice “Bunny” Ferguson received her honorary degree from the University of Alberta in 2011, she told graduating students that the secret to a good life was complete immersion.

Today the university mourns the loss of a friend who gave her all to her friends, her family, and to the U of A. Bunny Ferguson, tireless advocate for community-university engagement, health-care excellence and educational leadership, died July 3. She was 73.

In Memoriam: Mark Chytracek

Categories: ,

1958-2015

It is with the deepest regret that we announce the loss of a dear and lifelong friend of Augustana. Mark Chytracek, our much beloved Director of Student and Resident Services, passed away on Friday, October 9, from a massive heart attack.

Mark was a valued mentor and friend to many students, staff, and alumni. For over 33 years, he exemplified what community and caring mean at Augustana. Our thoughts and prayers are with Brandi, Jon (Angela), Amanda, David (Jessie), Noah and the rest of the Chytracek family.
