Verna’s Vlog is a series in which I sit down with some of the incredible people who are a part of the U of A community to share their stories and learn more about what they do.

Climate change is one of the world’s biggest challenges, and we need to find solutions to protect our fragile planet. The U of A leads some of the most advanced and innovative net-zero energy research.

Amit Kumar, Tier 1 Canada Research Chair in Assessment of Energy Systems and deputy director of the U of A’s Future Energy Systems, is internationally recognized for his research to mitigate climate change, specifically to help reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

In this episode of Verna’s Vlog, we discuss the importance of this research – a priority research area at the U of A – including the future of hydrogen and how we’re contributing to energy solutions.

Amit mentors and teaches a large number of students and postdoctoral fellows in his role as professor of mechanical engineering and researcher. We speak about the next generation of scientists, and postdoctoral fellow Neelanjan Bhattacharjee shares how he is able to move his work forward at the U of A.
