At noon today, a full house was on hand for a campus forum on financial sustainability. President David Turpin opened the forum with a presentation that covered the province's and University of Alberta's fiscal situations and the plans we are putting in place to respond to current and anticipated fiscal challenges.
These include eliminating a structural deficit in the operating budget, reducing reliance on short-term investment income to fund core operations, and developing new financial tools such as a new three-year budget planning process and U of A-specific budget model.
