In mid-May, we announced that the majority of Fall 2020 courses at the University of Alberta would be delivered remotely and online, with some in-person learning experiences offered especially where in-person instruction is essential to progressing in or completing a program.

Since then, we have been working to identify those courses which will offer an in-person experience, and I want to thank all of you for being patient while we have gone through this extensive process. Today, I am pleased to share that we will be offering approximately 300 courses with in-person learning experiences.

A complete list of courses which will include in-person learning experiences can be found here. Information about time and location of specific sections is available on Bear Tracks.

We know that for some of you there may be circumstances that prevent you from attending in person. If your course is on this list and you are unable to attend in person, please contact the instructor to make arrangements so that you can complete the course content.

We have heard from many of you that in-person learning, teaching, and campus life is a defining feature of attending university, and it is. From seeing friends between classes to enjoying a silent study space in the library, university life has always reached beyond the classroom. Though it will be different, plans are being developed so that campus connections remain possible no matter where you are.

We all look forward with great anticipation to the day we can resume full campus activities; however, we are not there yet. COVID-19 remains a major risk to human health around the world. We must continue to adapt and respond in order to maintain the health and safety of our university community and the broader community of which we are a part.

I am very proud of how our community continues to face this challenge and work together to find the best way to move forward. We are committed to providing a high quality learning experience both online and in-person and we look forward to welcoming all of you in September.

If you have questions and would like to speak to an advisor, contact information for each faculty is available here. We are here to help you find the information you need to succeed.
