The University of Alberta is preparing to launch an Equity, Diversity, and Inclusivity (EDI) Strategic Plan. (You can see a draft of the plan by clicking here.) Through their participation in the University of Alberta EDI Scoping Group, many faculty members, staff, students, EDI scholars and advocates from across the University have contributed to our new EDI Strategic Plan. The shared goal of the EDI Scoping Group was to articulate a common vision and framework to inspire, guide, and support both current and future EDI efforts and initiatives across the university. We believe the EDI Strategic Plan reflects our ambitions for the future while acknowledging our current realities - both the outstanding work being done already and the challenges that remain.

As we roll out the plan across the university, we invite each faculty, department, unit, employee, student, or community stakeholder to explore the opportunities to highlight and develop their ideals and their plans for moving equity and diversity and inclusion efforts forward at the university.

Although we believe that the EDI Scoping Group members, many in consultation with their home units, have come up with an EDI Strategic Plan that can guide the university's efforts, we also know that, as Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion efforts find their way into new corners of the university, our plan and framework will need to adjust to keep pace. For that reason, we have committed to report back to the community annually, and to revise the Plan over time as needed.

We invite all members of the community to discover a home for your own ambitions and commitments in this EDI Strategic Plan and look forward to ongoing conversations and reflection about equity, diversity, and inclusion priorities at the University of Alberta.

Thank you for your commitment to this important work!

All are welcome. If you require accommodation, please contact lmardhan@ualberta.ca
