J’ai le plaisir de vous annoncer le renouvellement du mandat du Dr Pierre-Yves Mocquais en tant que Doyen de la Faculté Saint-Jean et Chef de la direction du Campus Saint-Jean. Le Doyen Mocquais effectuera son second mandat du 1er juillet 2019 au 30 juin 2022, au terme duquel il prendra son congé administratif. Je remercie les membres du Comité d’évaluation du doyen pour leur engagement et leur travail assidu, ainsi que tous ceux qui ont participé au processus d’évaluation.
Pendant son premier mandat de doyen, le Pr Mocquais a été un ardent défenseur du Campus Saint-Jean, aussi bien au sein de l’université, qu’aux niveaux local, provincial et national. Il a lancé plusieurs initiatives stratégiques au sein de la faculté, dont la réorganisation des diplômes de premier et de second cycles en français, ainsi que les diplômes bilingues, le développement et l’approbation d’un nombre de programmes collégiaux au Centre collégial de l’Alberta, et le développement d’une stratégie de croissance à long terme pour le Campus Saint-Jean qui a récemment été soumise au Gouvernement de l’Alberta.
Au cours des trois prochaines années, le Pr Mocquais continuera sur la lancée de son premier mandat, en se concentrant sur la promotion d’un environnement au Campus Saint-Jean permettant au domaine transdisciplinaire académique de s’épanouir. Ceci comprend la fusion de deux instituts de recherche en un seul, l’Institut Marcelle et Louis Desrochers pour le patrimoine et les recherches transdisciplinaires en francophonies (IMELDA), la création d’un Centre de Transformation pédagogique et technologique, le développement d’un programme de doctorat en Études interdisciplinaires, une réorientation de la stratégie internationale du Campus Saint-Jean, et la poursuite d’un certain nombre d’initiatives ayant comme but d’élever les principes d’équité, de diversité et d’inclusion au sein du Campus. Le Pr Mocquais continuera de travailler avec le Bureau du Provost dans le cadre d’un examen du climat et des conditions de travail au Campus Saint-Jean afin de s’assurer que le campus demeure un environnement sain et productif pour les membres du personnel, la faculté et les étudiants.
Je souhaite remercier le Pr Mocquais pour son dévouement à l’Université de l’Alberta et au Campus Saint-Jean, et je me réjouis de travailler avec lui pendant les trois prochaines années.

I am pleased to announce the reappointment of Dr. Pierre-Yves Mocquais as Dean of Faculté Saint-Jean and Executive Officer of Campus Saint-Jean for a second term, from July 1, 2019 to June 30, 2022. Dr. Mocquais has agreed to defer his administrative leave until 2022. My thanks to the members of the Dean Review Committee for their commitment and hard work, and to all of those who took the time to participate in the review process.
In his first term as dean, Dr. Mocquais has been a staunch supporter of Campus Saint-Jean at the university, locally, provincially, and nationally. He has advanced a number of strategic initiatives in the faculty, including reorganization of French-language undergraduate and graduate degrees as well as bilingual undergraduate degrees, development and approval of a number of college-level programs at Centre collégial de l’Alberta, and development of a long-term growth strategy for Campus Saint-Jean that has now been submitted to the Government of Alberta for consideration.
In the coming three years, Dr. Mocquais will continue to build on the momentum of his first term, focused on fostering an environment at Campus Saint-Jean that allows the transdisciplinary academic environment to thrive. These include the merging of two existing research institutes into one (the Institut Marcelle et Louis Desrochers pour le patrimoine et les recherches transdisciplinaires en francophonies or IMELDA), creation of a Centre for Pedagogical and Technological Transformation, development of a PhD in Interdisciplinary Studies, refocusing of Campus Saint-Jean’s international strategy, and pursuit of a number of initiatives designed to uplift principles of equity, diversity, and inclusion in the faculty. Dr. Mocquais will work with the Office of the Provost in contracting a workplace and climate review for Campus Saint-Jean to ensure that the campus is a healthy and productive environment for staff, faculty and students.
I want to thank Dr. Mocquais for his dedication to the University of Alberta and to Campus Saint-Jean, and I look forward to working with him for a further three years.
