We wanted to take this opportunity to update the U of A community on the UniForum program. Many people are involved in delivering the important administrative services needed to support those working to deliver the U of A's teaching and research mission. It is important to all of us that those services are effective and efficient. We've never before had a way to look at our administrative processes end to end, or to compare them with other universities. Participating in UniForum makes it possible for us to know more about the services we provide, what is working well, and where attention is needed. This program will give us a comprehensive overview of our university services.

UniForum Activity Coding is currently underway across the university. The activity coding will provide an institutional view of the resources we expend to deliver services that are important to our academic mission, and will ensure the university has good information to support decision-making. Eventually, we will also be able to compare results with participating universities from Australia, New Zealand, the UK and Canada.

We recognize that implementing a new initiative is challenging, and we appreciate the work being undertaken by many people across the university to code activities and collect data. It's critical that all involved take the time needed to make sure this first data collection is of the highest quality possible. Thank you all for supporting these efforts.

We expect to start receiving high-level results in December 2019. Ultimately, with the combination of information gathered through both the UniForum Satisfaction surveys (administered in November 2018 and May 2019) and activity coding, we will be able to see what we are doing well, where we can work to improve services, and where we can learn from other institutions.

The U of A's UniForum team is available for any support you may need. Please reach out to the UniForum team (uniforum@ualberta.ca) with any questions.

Again, thanks for your work on this priority initiative.

Steven Dew, Provost & Vice-President Academic
