If you’ve walked across North Campus in the past week or two, you probably noticed that work on the the Dentistry/Pharmacy Centre has begun.

The estimated thirty month project will continue through to the end of 2021 (although some interior work will continue beyond that). The renovations will preserve much of the building’s iconic architecture, while improving its sustainability and energy efficiency.

How will it affect us on a day-to-day basis? Take a look below:

Fences have been erected around the Dentistry/Pharmacy Centre and parts of the 89 Avenue bus loop, restricting access to the areas highlighted in orange above.

Note: the LRT entrance in front of the Dentistry/Pharmacy Centre will still be accessible during construction.

Pedestrian pathways around the construction site are highlighted in green above. All pedestrian traffic on the 89 Avenue bus loop will be redirected to the south side of the road. To accommodate this, a temporary crosswalk will be added near the southwest corner of the site.

Bus and service vehicle traffic will remain the same, with vehicles continuing to enter from 114 Street, travel east along 89 Avenue, and exit on 112 Street.

There will be an increase in traffic in this area due to construction activities.
